Type 321 stainless steel s also advantageous for high temperature service because of its good mechanical properties. Type 321 stainless steel offers higher creep and stress rupture properties than Type 304 and, particularly, Type 304L which might also be considered for exposures where sensitization and intergranular corrosion are concerns.

With a tensile yield strength of 36,300 psi and an ultimate tensile strength that ranges from 58,000 to 80,000 psi, A36 steel combines strength with flexibility. A36 steel can maintain its strength at temperatures ranging up to 650°F. This metal is excellent for welding and produces high quality welded joints. While A36 is a strong material, it is more easily bent than materials such as C1018 steel, as it has less yield strength. Composition. The following elements generally compose A36 Alloy 310/310S Heat Resistant Stainless Steel Plate
- General PropertiesCorrosion ResistanceMechanical PropertiesAlloy 310 (UNS S31000) is an austenitic stainless steel developed for use in high temperature corrosion resistant applications. The alloy resists oxidation up to 2010oF (1100oC) under mildly cyclic conditions. Because of its high chromium and moderate nickel content, Alloy 310 is resistant to sulfidation and can also be used in moderately carburizing atmospheres. The more severe carburizing atmospheres of thermal process equipment usually require nickel alloys such as 330 (UNS N08330). Alloy 310 can be Minimum Design Metal Temperature (MDMT) and Impact Impact testing of the base metal is not required if the design minimum temperature is warmer than or equal to the calculated value of MDMT. However, for steels, impact testing is not required if the stress ratio r 323.2.2 (b) is 0.3 or less, and the design minimum temperature is warmer than or equal to 104°C (155°F), and temperature reduction may be used if 323.2.2 (c) rules are

Apr 01, 1997 · Abstract. A capsule containing Charpy V-notch (CVN) and mini-tensile specimens was irradiated at ~30°C (~ 85°F) in the cavity of a commercial nuclear power plant to a fluence of 1 x 10 16 neutrons/cm 2 (>1 MeV). The capsule included six CVN impact specimens of archival High Flux Isotope Reactor A212 grade B ferritic steel and five CVN impact specimens of a well-studied A36 structural steel. A36 steel or AISI1025 steel properties at high temperature
Apr 18, 2006 · Most of the mechanical property data I have seen reported for A36 goes up to about 1500 deg F. Above this temperature, A36 possess significantly reduced strength and Young's Modulus (I have seen a reduction factor of 20% - meaning the steel at 1500 deg F has 20% of the room temperature value) because you have exceeded the lower critical transformation temperature.
